The Zoological Garden in Pilsen regularly ranks among the ten most visited tourist destinations in the Czech Republic. Visitors are attracted by a great variety of animal species. The zoo is situated near the city centre in an attractive and rather diverse area with water places, arboretums, rocks and it features both outdoor and indoor pavilions which provide home for various animals from different parts of the world. Giraffes, rhinoceros, lions, tigers, bears, penguins, flamingos, kangaroos, zebras, crocodiles but also some typical farm animals in the Lüftnerka farm are the main stars of the zoo in Pilsen.

Techmania Science Center

Techmania Science Center

Scientific shows, brain teasers, demonstrations of various experiments, classic and interactive expositions, unexpected experiments, unconventional workshops, and a super-modern 3D planetarium. All of this is offered by the Techmania Science Center in Pilsen, which convinces the whole family or a school class that science is not just boring, but it brings a lot of fun, moreover, in any weather. The science centre is located in the historical factory halls in the middle of the industrial complex of the former Škoda factory.

For children aged three and more, there are several expositions that make them discover the world around them. Other expositions invite older children into the mysterious world of chemistry and physics. The exposition Universe is also interesting. There, brave children and adults can test the state of weightlessness by means of a gyroscope. In the 3D Planetarium, you can look at the Moon, discover the story of the planet Earth from its very beginning and enjoy various animated movies thanks to a variety of projections.

DinoPark

DinoPark

An adventurous journey to prehistoric times which will be full of fun and knowledge can be taken in the DinoPark. This interesting attraction with moving models of prehistoric animals which make scary sounds is especially suitable for small adventurers from 5 to 12 years of age but also younger children and parents will enjoy their visit. The DinoPark offers entertainment for everyone. Models of various dinosaur species are several metres high and they allow children to admire these giant extinct animals and discover their world that has not existed for millions of years. However, the DinoPark offers other attractions too.

On the paleontological playground children can uncover a skeleton of a dinosaur. There are many other activities for children such as climbing. Thanks to the 3D cinema screening, which is part of the entrance ticket to the DinoPark, you can explore the underwater world of wild Mesozoic seas, where there are plenty of various pitfalls and dangers. It is also possible to explore the exposition Path to History of Earth. The DinoPark in Pilsen is not the only dino-thematic park in the Czech Republic but you will not see the same things anywhere else. The model of a giant Apatosaurus is 23 meters high and a whole kindergarten can fit under him. You will also see one of the best models of Tyrannosaur Rex.

Puppet museum

Puppet museum

Spejbl and Hurvínek were born in Pilsen, so there is no wonder that an interesting museum dedicated to puppets was established here. The Puppet Museum is situated in one of the historic houses right in the city centre on the Republic Square. The exhibition tells the story of puppets from small nomadic theatres to the present production of Pilsen Theatre Alfa. You will also meet the creator of Spejbl and Hurvínek Josef Skupa and his successor Jiří Trnka. The main attraction of the museum is that you do not have to just view the exhibits in their showcases but the children themselves can use their imagination and play their own theatre performance. Thanks to the programme Expedition on the Thread daddies and grandpas can accompany their children to the puppet eight-thousand-metre-high mountain where they participate in various tasks.

The Museum of Ghosts and Fairy Tales is located in the centre of Pilsen, on the western side of the Republic square. You will find the Museum in the underground of the Central hotel. The site used to be a guest house originating from the 16 th century. This house as well as the whole city of Pilsen is full of folk tales, fairy tales, mysterious creatures and various ghosts.

We can immerse you in the magic world of fairy tales from the old city of Pilsen and its surroundings. The mythical prince Radouš, water sprites, witches, Saracen devil, fire-dog, dragons and other bouncing vermin belong to the region under the Radyně castle.
